Shared Lives Carere - Camphill Village Trust

Position: Shared Lives Carer (work from your own home)

Company: CVT Shared Lives (Camphill Village Trust)

Location: Dudley Borough and surrounding Black Country/West Midlands area

Salary: £300-£600 per week. You are paid according to the level of support you provide to the person that comes to stay with you. You will also qualify for tax relief with HMRC due to the self-employed status of the role (£10K per annum plus £250 per week for each person)

Hours: Subject to care package. Shared Lives Carers provide support from their own home on either a Live-In, Short-Break or Day-Care basis.

Description of role: After recently winning the contract to deliver Shared Lives across the Borough of Dudley for the next 3-5 years, CVT Shared Lives are currently in the process of recruiting new Carers to their innovative new Scheme.

Shared Lives is sometimes described as a bit like ‘foster care for adults who are vulnerable', but it’s so much more than that as we enable the person to make choices and take greater control of their life.

As a Shared Lives Carer you support the Person from your own home to develop the skills to be independent and lead an ‘ordinary life’ just like you and I. The Person then becomes part of the local community, using your social and wider family networks for extra support… it’s such a rewarding role!!!

You are carefully matched then introduced to the Person you will support on either a Live-In, Short-Break or Day-Care basis…as it’s really important we make sure everyone is happy before the Arrangement begins.

As a Shared Lives Carer with CVT, there is also opportunity to take part in social events and day activities, as well as connect to a wealth of support and friendships within our existing Stourbridge Community.

You must be over 21 years of age but don’t need any qualifications or experience, just the right values, commitment and of course…..a spare bedroom. If you don’t own your own home, you will need to ask your landlord’s permission to use your home as a Shared Lives Arrangement.

We will provide you with relevant training and once approved, on-going supervision and support to ensure that the highest quality of care is maintained throughout each Shared Lives Arrangement. An Enhanced DBS Check and references are required. Induction training will take place in your own home via E-Learning and also as a group at our community hub in Stourbridge. The Assessment process takes between 3-6 months.

If you are currently working in domiciliary or residential care, however you are passionate about supporting people in the community, then Shared Lives could be for you.
